The Early Twentieth Century Poems of Kate Hall

In early November 2014, Dianne Dalton attended a funeral at the Chapel. It was of a lady of 95 years called Sylvia Penton, who lived on Kirkham Road in Freckleton. Whilst there, she was given an old book that contained many poems written by her aunt, Kate Hall. They all appear to have been written in the early 20^th century, many dated 1908 and 1910. She appears to have written poems like we take photographs, to mark a significant event. There are poems about weddings (including the Balderstone Mill owner), the Titanic, family events and so on. The images below are her poems that reference the Band. Sylvia Penton’s uncle was Peter Rawstrone who was the conductor of the Band at that time. There is a reference to ‘Pe’.
